Austria 2024

Updated: Mar 10

VIdeo of Trip:

Started our trip in Zurich. Flew direct from Boston. Had just one night there, and then off for 2 hour drive to Austria. Stayed at Hotel Schweizerhof Zürich. Great location and over 100 years old. Walk to old town, great runs on the Lake Zurich. Zurich is not cheap! It's arleady pricey but the Swiss Franc 15% premium over dollar so that doesn't help either. Safe vibrant city / nice people.

We arrived to Hirschegg Austria and stayed at the Travel Charme - Ifen Hotel. This was the BMW I8 segment of the trip. Itinerary is below / great people / friends and creative , fun itinerary as always. We got to know Ken & Amy from Miami and Phillip and Natasha from Swizterland this time around: Wonderful people!

Dog Sledding in Austria was awesome! We also hiked with them / put a strap around our waste and they pulled us along.

Wine Dinner at the Hotel

Theeeee Most Amazing Infinity Pool! Go through a "secret" door and you are in a promontory acting as a heated pool w/views that blow your mind!

On the way to St. Anton am Arlberg to ski, we passed through Oberstdorf, Germany where Eddie the Eagle was filmed.

Tunnels scared the heck out of Rechelle, especially if I looked at my phone to change the music while in one!

St. Anton very cute ski town. Much of it closed off to traffic. Classic old Austrian town / architecutre. Nice people. Lots of charm. Ski on / Ski out.

The food was excellent everwhere. From the dougnuts at Hotel Arlen in Saint Anton to the burgers at Theos restaurant (in hotel) to the pancake soup there too which was all awesome!

Skiing was good. They didn't have as much snow as normal. We had a bluebird day #1 and day 2&3 were icy and bad visiblity.

Arlen Lodge was great! AnnaLisa, the owner, was a perfect host. We would definitely stay there again. Two room suite, great views ..open windows and sliding door to balcony.. GREAT SPA: Two saunas, steam room. Open beer tap. Full Breakfast every am. Treats at 2pm, ski storage room w/heated boot rack etc.etc!

On the way to Zurich airport to go home, we stopped at a beautiful medieval town called Feldrich, Austria....well preserved from the 1200's. We saw the Schattenburg castle (inside didn't open until 1:30p so we couldn't get inside as we had to catch our 5:30pm flight). Town was cobblestone streest but modern stores. We had lunch at Dogana: was excellent: Really nice inside / would go back for dinner sometime!

Selfie in Feldrich bathroom with my new spy camera music video Raybans!
