Why redistribution of wealth doesn't work.

There is no question that we can learn so much from history. As I get older, I realize more and more history's importance in our everyday lives and also a child's early learning years. The old adage "History Repeats Itself" is spot on. In my financial planning business this saying is repeated often in the various lectures / conventions I attend. It's so easy to say "This time it's different" but at its core it rarely is. At a young age, I never really understood why history class was of any relevance: It already happened so let's focus on the future! Well, I couldn't have been more wrong. What we learn and know from our past helps us tremendously to navigate through our future. Benjamin Harrison "Little Ben", the 23rd president of the United States, led our country through a difficult transition. He was dealing with the ongoing issues of the 19th century (war against Native Americans) and upcoming issues of the 20th century (labor unions): A 20th century future with a government designed for the horse and buggy. Little Ben,a civil war veteran, was president from 1889 to 1893. He is the only president whose grandfather was also president. In addition, his great grandfather Benjamin Harrison V was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. His quote below says it all:
